Health & Safety Division

Our Health and Safety Consultants work in partnership with organisations to assist them achieve compliance with legal requirements and to implement systems designed to reduce accident potential, damage to property and liability.

Consultants are experienced professionals with extensive working knowledge across a broad spectrum of activities, many having reached senior positions in nationally recognised organisations.

Shortly after joining us you will be contacted by the Health and Safety Division to ensure your general activities, concerns and needs are fully understood. You will then be allocated a designated consultant who will be responsible for delivering the service and providing ongoing help and support.

The Audit
An initial audit will be undertaken of your activities in order to help identify breaches of legislation and unsafe practices. Your documentation will also be reviewed to help ensure statutory records are held and maintained, risk assessments are in place, necessary safe systems of work are devised, etc. Normally your consultant will visit up to two sites as part of the initial audit in order to gain the necessary information to assist with this audit.

On completion of the audit your consultant will provide a detailed report setting out the main findings and the action recommended. The report will include an action plan setting priorities to assist with the management of the issues raised.

Shortly after receiving the report you will be contacted by the consultant to ensure it is understood, whether there are any issues you disagreed with, and to provided assistance or clarification of the issues raised.

The Health and Safety System
The next phase of the agreement will be for your consultant to develop your bespoke health and safety system tailored to your needs. The system will include the health and safety policy, the organisation and arrangements for implementing the policy, various guidance and monitoring documentation to assist with managing health and safety, along with various risk assessment manuals. Once completed the consultant will bring the system to your site and explain all the documentation, guidance, systems, risk assessment manuals, etc and make amendments as necessary.

Visits
According to the level of service agreed, your consultant will make follow-up visits or audits to your sites to review activities and establish progress. A report or letter will follow each visit. During these visits the consultant will be establishing progress made and providing assistance and guidance in appropriate action to resolve issues, this will include providing help and assistance with risk assessments.

Updates and Beware Notices
Your Health and Safety System will be updated as necessary throughout the term of the agreement. This will be done through our Beware Notice system and during visits by your consultant.

We will also send out Beware Notices as necessary to keep you abreast of changes in the law, relevant accidents, prosecutions, HSE campaigns, etc.

The Helpline
The helpline provides access to telephone help 24/7 on any health or safety query which will be dealt with by your designated consultant but if he/she is unavailable for any reason, another consultant will be available to provide the necessary support.

Assistance
Should you be contacted by the enforcing authorities we will liaise with them on your behalf if necessary to ensure your interests are properly represented. Similarly, assistance will be provided with accident investigations where this is required to ensure appropriate action is taken to prevent a recurrence, appropriate notifications made if necessary, etc.
