The law requires that every company must arrange for the provision of competent advice regarding health and safety. In this case, competency is defined as an amalgam of knowledge and experience.

All our consultants are highly experienced and qualified: their qualifications and accreditations include CMIOSH MIIRSM and Grad IOSH.  LELC will always allocate an appropriately qualified and experienced consultant to your company.

The service comprises the following:

A full Health & Safety management review relating to activities which can be observed at the time of the visit or identified by yourself.

1.  The review will:
  • Identify non-compliant activities.
  • Identify preventative and remedial measures in relation to those activities.
  • Compile a management action plan.
  • Assess any training requirements.
  • Give assistance and guidance in how to undertake these assessments.
2.  Design and provision of your Health & Safety policy which will include for example:
  • A Health and Safety Policy Statement.
  • The organisation and arrangements for implementing the policy.
  • The delegation of responsibilities to relevant personnel.
  • Monitoring procedures to ensure effectiveness.
  • Safety rules and regulations regarding employees, visitors, contractors etc.
  • Accident, Injury, Illness, Disease and First Aid procedures.
  • Training policies and procedures.
  • Relevant safe working procedures.
  • Relevant risk assessment procedures and guidance for COSHH, CDM, Fire, DSE, Manual Handling etc.
3.  A further visit will be made by the consultant to implement with you the elements of your Health and Safety policy.  This could be with anyone who has a management responsibility. Advice will also be given on the implementation of the system.  You may request changes to the system at any time and amendments brought about by changes in legislation will be made available to you.

4.   Further visits may be made each year to undertake additional inspections.  This visit would also:
  • Assess the progress made from the previous visit.
  • Amend where necessary the policy and associated procedures
Any reports and recommendations would be submitted to you in writing.

5.  Prompt and pertinent advice will be made available to you or any nominated person.  This advice is available from our 24-hour / 365 day telephone Advice and Support Service specialists.

6.  Site visits would be made in the event of a serious accident or incident.

7.  Where necessary we will liaise with the enforcing authorities on your behalf.
